We teach the fundamentals of wrestling technique and sportsmanship to wrestlers grades K-8. KWAA wrestlers learn from an expert coaching staff and participate in wrestling tournaments and dual meets.

Folkstyle Programs (November to March)

We offer two folkstyle programs, Novice and Varsity, which have their own coaching staffs and tournament schedules. All wrestlers practice three times per week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) at one of the best wrestling facilities in the city.

  • Novice Program: for first and second year wrestlers, this program builds a solid foundation in fundamental wrestling technique. Wrestlers participate in competitive tournaments against other novice wrestlers. Some wrestlers may be asked to participate in dual meets.
  • Varsity Program: for experienced wrestlers, this program offers more intensive training in wrestling techniques in a competitive environment. Wrestlers participate in competitive tournaments against other varsity wrestlers. Wrestlers will have the opportunity to qualify for the Dual Wrestling Team. The head coach is Rick Heckendorn. All wrestlers practice three times per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) at one of the best wrestling facilities in the city.

Freestyle and Greco-Roman Program (March to July)

The KWAA Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling program runs from March through July. The Freestyle and Greco-Roman team is also open to high school wrestlers. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Skutt High School Wrestling Building. The head coach is Bob Edmonds. Our Club also plays host to the KWAA National Tournament of Champions, which draws some of the finest wrestlers in the nation to Omaha every year.
